Star Wars: The Cereal and....E3 & Vegas

Two new columns today from The Unexamined Life: Star Wars the Cereal is up in lieu of a movie review (there are enough of those, don't you think?) and then there's a separate comparison between E3 (the video game trade show) and Vegas here. Enjoy, cuz it's rare that I'll do two columns in one day.

Toyville: E3, Rampart, McFarlane

Up in the Toyville section now: E3, some hyperbole on an old classic arcade game and Todd McFarlane's first (and hopefully last) toy-related mistake.

Toyville

Toyville is up. It's a new section about toys, video games, pop culture and nostalgia. To better accomodate multiple writers, it's in Wordpress blog format. Enjoy.

Major Changes to the site

Whew, a lot of "up till 4am" kinda nights have yielded some cool new stuff here. Check the left side bar on Maximum Awesome. You'll see:

  • Mediarama (the belated debut of Audiosity--which was renamed what with our new-found ability to make video files--new content coming soon)

  • Toyville (our new blog-style pop culture, action figure, video game section. We're looking for contributors, so join up slackers.)

  • Search bar (now you can find archived material faster, like "vomiting Grimlock")

  • Build Traffic (I spent a lot of time on this, dude. 3 easy ways to boost traffic to your site. Check it out. All free, by the way. You're welcome.)

A few weeks back, I put up a wishlist of what I wanted to change/add to the site. 3 of 4 accomplished (plus other stuff not even on the list). Not too shabby. Don't mind me as I pat myself on the back.

Destroy my site

The Martians are on to us, man. Hide the children. Click to witness the massive destructive power of our Martian overlords. Clearly, they do not appreciate the hilarity that regularly ensues on this site.

Whoops

Whoa! Sorry for the glitch on May 11th. Long story, but things are all straightened away now. So...go ahead...check out the latest update again since the site was buggered for most of yesterday. Dave's latest column

Quite Frankly

Today's edition of brutally honest relationship advice weighs in on the exchange of phone numbers and the practice of 'going Dutch.' What's that, you say? YOU have an advice question? Simple enough:

Two-fer Tuesday

And here we go: First up, a vicious screed about the evils of blogging (whoops, there's the Muse of Hyperbole again, hyping what ought not be hyped). There are a few things I dislike about blogging, and for no apparent reason I've decided to make those things public. To sugar coat that rather bitter pill, I also helped someone recently. That gave me an excuse to unveil (cue trumpet fanfare) the Spiff-o-meter! Perma-link-a-roo

Frank Lloyd Wrong

Ha! See what I did there? There's this legendary architect and designer named Frank Lloyd Wright. And 'Wright' is a homophone for 'Right' and then...oh, god, this is classic!...then I take 'Wright' and change it to 'Wrong'...oh, the Cleverness with a capital 'C'! What inspired wit! Because, see, a friend sent me a link about a poorly designed image on a Web site. Hence the FLW reference. Yeah, well, anyway, in case you couldn't guess, I hate writing headlines. Regardless: This is, shall we say, a rather unfortunate logo.

McFarlane's Little Red Riding Hood

Fairy tale classics, including Little Red Riding Hood, get a makeover thanks to Todd McFarlane:

Section 2 has the cure. "How 'bout a catapult?" Boromir asks in this much shorter edition of the movie.

24: Holy Guacamole

Realize, dear reader, that for the most part, I keep most typical blog-type blogging to a minimum in favor of "the funny." But jumping jehosaphat, what a wonderfully, wonderful show 24 is. For some ungodly reason, it makes me want to barge into my local army recruiters' office and volunteer to break into Chinese embassies.

No, I didn't get my wish that Kiefer would get to punch out that Secret Service guy. Instead, he invaded China.
